Venture Lab

Venture Lab is the venture arm of Columbia Technology Ventures and assists Columbia faculty, students and research staff who wish to launch startup companies. Venture Lab also helps assess the threshold questions involved in decisions such as whether there is an adequate commercial market for the technology and whether it is advisable to launch a start-up in the first place.

To date, Columbia University has been responsible for ninety-three start-up companies, twelve of which have been acquired either by private sale or by publicly-held entities and nine of which have gone public in their own right. Thirty-three of these have been venture-backed at some point in their life-cycle. The Columbia portfolio companies have raised in excess of $1 billion in venture and public market financings, and have generated more than 1,500 jobs.

We meet with students, faculty, and other Columbia staff to discuss their potential start-up ideas and provide intial guidance to these fledgling entrepreneurs. To schedule a meeting, please contact us.
